LG’s Tone Free FP True wireless earbuds have a “Whispering Mode,” which allows you to utilise the right earbud as a dedicated microphone during conversations by holding it near to your lips. It’s a handy privacy-conscious option for when you don’t want to speak loudly enough for the sound to be picked up by the earphones in your ears.
The FP5, FP8, and FP9 are three new earbuds in the range, and they share many of the same specifications. All are noise cancelling, contain three microphones per earbud, and are water resistant to IPX4 standards to handle mild splashes. Their earbud stems are 4.4mm shorter than LG’s previous versions, and they include upgraded drivers and diaphragms that LG says provide more bass without sacrificing clarity. Headphone Spatial Processing and 3D Sound Stage provide a surround-sound audio experience for the listener.
However, certain characteristics are exclusive to one or two of the headphones. The most intriguing are the FP9 earphones, whose casing can also function as a wireless transmitter, allowing the earbuds to be utilised with non-Bluetooth devices.
LG’s bacteria-killing UV tech is used in the FP8 and FP9 earbuds, which the firm claims can destroy 99.9% of germs on the earbuds’ speaker mesh in five minutes, reducing the risk of inner ear infections. These two earbuds also offer better battery life than the FP5, and can last up to 10 hours on a single charge, or up to 24 hours when used with its charging case (the FP5 is rated for 8 and 22 hours, respectively). Wireless charging is only available on the FP8 model.
LG’s new true wireless earphones will be released this month in “important markets” at an unspecified price.
