The Benton Harbor-based Corporation, Whirlpool is improving its voice-command capabilities as a launch collaborator for Google Assistant voice notifications, a new feature of Google’s intelligent personal assistant software.

The home appliance manufacturer announced last week that Google Assistant voice notifications will soon be available on select connected Maytag and Whirlpool brand washers and dryers manufactured since 2016, as well as select connected JennAir and KitchenAid brand products by the later segment of this year.

It does not work like the traditional voice-command features that require direct questions. These voice notifications on the contrary notify appliance users of updates in advance.

Other connected appliances such as ovens, refrigerators, and microwave ovens will also provide users with real-time, proactive alerts as Whirlpool expands Google Assistant voice notification support.

Connected subscriptions, as well as Wi-Fi and the Google Home app, may be required to access the Google Assistant voice notifications.
